GoldSim: Powerful Probabilistic Simulation Software for Risk Analysis and Decision Support
GoldSim is a powerful and flexible platform for visualizing and dynamically simulating nearly any kind of physical, financial or organizational system. You build a model in an intuitive manner by literally drawing a picture (an influence diagram) of your system. In a sense, GoldSim is like a "visual spreadsheet" that allows you to graphically create and manipulate data and equations. GoldSim moves beyond spreadsheets, however, by making it much easier for you to evaluate how systems evolve over time, and predict their future behavior.
The GoldSim product line consists of the following:
GoldSim is the commercial version of GoldSim and provides all the basic functionality needed by commercial users to build powerful, full-featured GoldSim models for business, scientific, and engineering applications.
GoldSim Academic and GoldSim Research are available for faculty and students. GoldSim Academic is offered free to academic users (i.e., students, professors, and teachers) for teaching and non-supported student research projects. GoldSim Research is offered at a reduced price to faculty and students at academic institutions for academic research projects.
GoldSim Player is a free download that allows anyone to view, navigate, and run GoldSim models. As a result, GoldSim users are allowed to share their models with people who don’t have GoldSim. GoldSim Player does not allow users to create new models or edit existing models.
In addition, GoldSim was designed using a modular framework that allows each user to customize their GoldSim package to provide exactly the functionality they need. To support this, several specialized GoldSim extension modules provide additional features or functionality for particular applications. The following modules are currently available:
- The Reliability Module facilitates risk and reliability analysis for complex engineered systems.
- The Financial Module facilitates simulation of financial instruments and processes and risk analysis for business and financial systems.
