Description

These two models simulate different aspects of the classic board game Risk. In doing so, they also illustrate some key methods for simulating games of chance. One model addresses the probabilities of success for each type of battle roll (number of attacker´s and defender´s dice). This is actually a deterministic simulation of 10,000 independent rolls. The second model is a stochastic simulation of a battle, with only the number of attacker and defender armies, and the minimum number of armies that the attacker wants to have left when the battle is over (in order to effectively overtake the defender´s country without getting spread too thin). The results are the attacker´s probability of success, which depends of course on the roll of the dice.
