How is GoldSim licensed and registered?

GoldSim licenses can be used on only one machine at a time. When you purchase GoldSim (or request an evaluation version), you are provided with a software key (a Registration Code).  You must enter this Code in order to register the software and run GoldSim. If your computer is connected to the internet, the registration process is done automatically when you enter the key (and takes less than a minute). Otherwise, you must communicate with the GoldSim Technology Group via email or phone and exchange some codes to complete the registration process.  Once you use the Registration Code, it cannot be used again on another machine (if you try to do so, it will not work). Once per year, you must re-register (at no cost) to continue to use the software. We also provide network licenses and provide a mechanism to transfer licenses between computers.

Do you provide licenses that can be shared over a network?

Floating (network) licenses allow multiple users to access one or more licenses via a network. For example, a 3-person floating license would allow up to 3 people from anywhere in the organization to simultaneously access GoldSim.  Floating licenses require that you have a connection to the server on which the License Manager software is installed (the GoldSim software itself is installed on the client machines).

Can GoldSim licenses be transferred between machines?

Although GoldSim licenses are not intended to be transferred frequently (e.g., weekly) between machines, occasionally you may have a need to do so.  Instructions for transferring a license can be found in the GoldSim Help system (in the Help index, search for "transferring a license"). To transfer a license, you must contact the GoldSim Technology Group via email or phone.

I sent in a request for an Evaluation version but have not received anything yet. What should I do?

As pointed out on the evaluation request form, you must provide an institutional (i.e., organization, company, academic) email address in order to be granted a free evaluation license. Requests from generic domains (e.g., hotmail, yahoo, gmail) are not be accepted. If you did provide an appropriate email address and have not received a response within two business days, please contact us.

Can you extend my 30 day evaluation period?

Yes, if you need a bit more time to evaluate GoldSim, we can extend your evaluation.  Please contact us to request an extension.

Help! GoldSim reports that it is no longer registered and will not run.  What should I do?

Occasionally, a registration can become corrupted (e.g., by anti-virus programs, if you inadvertently move or delete the licensing files, etc.).  If this happens, please contact us, as we can readily repair the registration by communicating with you by email or phone.

GoldSim reports that my registration has expired.  What should I do?

All GoldSim registrations have a limited duration.  Evaluation versions typically expire in 30 days.  Academic licenses expire in one year.  Commercial licenses are also set to expire every year, and must be renewed annually (at no cost).  Commercial users receive an email approximately two to three months prior to the expiration date with instructions for renewing the registration.  In most cases, this is a one minute process.  If your registration has expired, contact us

I tried to install the latest version of GoldSim, but got a message saying my support has expired, What can I do?

When you purchase GoldSim, it includes a one year membership in the GoldSm Subscription Program.  This entitles you to access to technical support, software upgrades, and access to the GRC.  (Evaluation are granted a temporary membership for one month.)  Once the Subscription expires, you no longer have access to the latest versions (you will be unable to register them after installation).  To reactivate access to the lateste upgrades, you must extend your Subscription.
